Junior Baseball at Essendon Baseball Club is a fantastic experience for your child to play and enjoy a team sport. Baseball is a great game for all genders and our Junior program caters for ages from 8 – 18.
Age Groups
Our juniors program supports all levels of baseball:
- Tee Ball (5-8 years old)
- Little League (9-12 years old)
- Intermediate (12-13 years old)
- Junior League (13-14 years old)
- Under 16’s (15-16 years old)
- Under 18’s (17-18 years old)
Training Times
Junior Baseball Training in the Summer Season starts in November, with training commencing in October. Summer training is held every Tuesday afternoon from 4.30 pm onwards at Boeing Reserve, Strathmore Heights.
Game Time
Little League Minor, Little League Major, Junior League, Under 16’s, and Under 18’s play home and away series on Sunday Mornings at 9.00 am.
Players are generally expected to be at the ground one hour prior to the scheduled start time for warm-up. This will be confirmed by the Team’s coach.
Fixture
Uniform
Junior teams wear the red undershirt, the EBC black playing top, white pants, black belt and socks, and cap. The black playing top is not compulsory for the Friday night players. Uniforms can be ordered online.
Parent Help
To support our Coaches and teams, parent help is required and welcomed at training and especially at home games for set-up, umpiring, scoring, pack-up and canteen duties. Each team will be required to have a Team Manager. Baseball knowledge is not a necessity! If you are willing to put your one-ninth in please contact Peter Breckenridge on 0404 836 920.
Registration and Fees
It is important to register as soon as possible so that players can be allocated to a team and teams can then be entered into the right competition. Fees include an insurance component and must be paid by the first game.

Twins Academy
For those players seeking more development and additional sessions, the Little League, Intermediate League, Junior League and U17 players will have the opportunity, through a selection process, to participate in the Melbourne Twins Academy. This involves additional training and playing opportunities against other Charters on Saturday mornings. Try-out dates, costs and details will be made available.
Tournaments
Players at all levels also have the opportunity to try out for the Twins All-Star teams which compete in the State Championships against other Charters, with a chance to make the National Championships. Each of the following age groups will have the opportunity to try out to be part of this:
