Women’s History

Essendon Women’s Baseball.

The Essendon Women’s baseball program has a lot to be proud of.

Thanks to Vibs and Ron Copperwait who pioneered the EBC women’s program in 2012-13 where we fielded a Division 3  team.

The following year with Bronwyn Gell coaching we fielded a team in Division 1 and a 1/2 a team in Division 3.

We narrowly missed a finals place in Div 1 and finished 2nd in Div 3.

In 2014-15 under the astute coaching of Col Penny our numbers have grown to 25 listed players, fielding teams in Division 1 & Division 3.

In Division 1 we are currently 3rd, 5 games clear of 4th placed Footscray who we beat 18-3 on the weekend.

Our Div 3 side is currently 6th, one game out of the top 4. We beat 5th placed Sandringham on the weekend 15-2.

A strong finish could see both teams playing finals.

2015 Victorian Women’s Baseball Championships.

5 Essendon players were selected to represent Victoria in a squad of 15 players.
